Interaction Design and Children (IDC)

April 1, 2015
Curated Topics

Today’s technologies are shaping the way children live, learn, and play. Technologies can provide a wealth of meaningful new experiences and support children’s exploration of their neighborhood, other cultures, and even the universe.

How we transform that connection that children have with information rests in the new technologies we are building every day. This area of Interaction Design and Children (IDC) is concerned with how new mobile, social, and digitally expansive technologies can bring children closer to their learning experiences.

“It’s striking how much technology is part of kids’ lives today. Children are using multiple devices to consume 11 hours of content a day.”

— Hon. Julius Genachowski, FCC Chairman, opening remarks at Back to School: Learning and Growing in a Digital Age, September 2010
